About GHRP-6
GHRP-6 is one of the original synthetic growth hormone-releasing peptides, developed decades before newer-generation secretagogues like Ipamorelin. It is studied both for its ability to stimulate pulsatile GH release via the ghrelin receptor and for a distinct secondary property among GHRPs — pronounced orexigenic (appetite-stimulating) activity.
Mechanism of Action
How It Works
GHRP-6 acts as an agonist at the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a), stimulating GH release from anterior pituitary somatotrophs through a pathway independent of, but complementary to, GHRH signaling. Because it also engages hypothalamic ghrelin-receptor circuitry tied to hunger signaling, GHRP-6 is a common reference compound in appetite-stimulation research. Relative to newer, more selective GHRPs, research has documented comparatively greater elevation of cortisol and prolactin alongside GH release.
